My Grandmother

This morning the world lost a beautiful soul. My Grandmother would have been 90 this May 16th. Unfortunately she was needed elsewhere. She had been wanting to go be with my Grandfather who passed away 3 and half years ago. I can't help but smile thinking of the reunion she is having with so many loved ones who passed away before her. I'm so lucky to have been able to call her my Grandmother. I will forever cherish the countless memories and good times I was lucky enough to have because of her. I spent a lot of my child days with my Grandparents and I smile at every lucky memory I can think of so quickly.
........
They had a pond on their property and I loved swimming. I would ask Grandma If we could go swimming and she would say Well of course we can and off we would go. Later when I got older I learned that my Grandmother could not swim and was terrified of the water. Yet she never blinked once. She never let me for one moment know that and she would float right beside me the whole time I was in the water.
.........
Their driveway was very long and when I would get off the bus it was inevitable that I would need to potty. I would run like a wild woman down the driveway trying to get to the house in time. I told her how worried it made me. Next time I got off the school bus there she was in her car parked at the end of the driveway. She said here hopefully this gets you there faster.
.........
In her last days I hugged her often and made sure to tell her I loved her. I fought back tears but there was something I just needed to say. Thank you for being my Grandmother! I'm a better person today because of you. She smiled. I'm so thankful I was able to tell her those words....
I love you Grandma. Now be at Peace.
