#24HOCS January Marathon Day 1

This was the first time I participated in the #24 Hours of Cross Stitch 24 Hours Marathon.

To break up the photo loading time I'm going to break the posts down to each day. I had a great time and got a TON of stitching done.

My goal was to work on 12 projects for 2 hours each. Let's see what I worked on Friday.

Friday I got a total of 7 Hours and 3 Minutes.

10:50am Ready to start stitching First on the list Elegant Squid from Ink Circles

41 Minutes in time to eat lunch. We went down and got Subway. Then I got a call from my step mom with information on how to book our hotel rooms for our upcoming Vegas trip in April. So I took time out to get that all setup. Even more excited now. Plane tickets bought. Hotel booked.

2:00pm Back to stitching. No more breaks world. It's a marathon weekend. Haha.
After the stop watch reached 1 Hour and 52 Minutes I admit I was bored of this piece and ready to move on already. So let's see the progress. Here it was before on January 24th 2016...

Now...

The fabric is a Hand Dyed by Stephanie. It's a 28ct Jobelan evenweave. The color is called Glastonbury Tor. I'm using DMC 501 and 504.

3:23pm Next up is On Beach Time from Hands on Design. I loved this set and I'm mad at myself for not getting them back out. I really didn't want to put this one away. I started this one for the Longest Day SAL with Jo on June 22nd 2017. I started a stack of new starts and spent an hour on each one that day. Here is the before...

Reached 2 Hours and 2 Minutes on my stop watch. Oops 2 minutes late haha. Here it is now...

Dinner was in the break. Fred brought Chinese home for him and me. Mom got KFC for her and Jeremiah. Wohoo no cooking today. These marathons are a fantastic break from life that's for sure.

7:25 Ready for the next piece. Wave Dancer by Dinky Dyes. I totally forgot about this one!! Here it was on June 29th of 2015!!!!

I worked more on the band 10 that I'm on. Got the waves finished and outlined. Really loved working on this one with the silks and kreinik. Boy it has been a long time since I stitched with kreinik. What a pain but it's sure pretty. Reached 2 Hours...

9:50pm last one for the night. Decided to stay up to squeeze it in. Best Friend Santa a Jim Shore Mill Hill kit. Here it was before from Longest Day SAL with Jo in 2017...

11:12pm 1 Hour and 9 Minutes on my stop watch my poor eyes wouldn't stay open any longer...

#24HOCS January Marathon

This weekend is the first #24Hours of Cross Stitch Marathon of 2020 and the first one I've been able to participate in finally. I'm going to join in but I have come down with a bit of a bug so who knows how much I'll actually get done. She started this awhile ago with a 24 hour straight marathon. Since some people just can't stitch that long in a row she has now made it Friday through Sunday. The goal to stitch as much as you can in that span. I heard on her latest floss tube she is even going to have a few giveaways this time for if you participate for any length of time.

I wanted to come up with a fun plan for the marathon. I had Jeremiah and Mom pick 6 numbers each to come up with a list of 12 WIPs from my WIP list on my Goals and SALs tab above. I'm going to go down the list they picked and work on each project for 2 hours according to my stop watch. I might not get to them all but boy I'll sure try. I didn't let them pick a number for a new start or for a WIP I've already worked on this month. What they came up with was some really great older pieces. So let's see the list. I will show before and after pictures Monday with my wrap up post.

I've worked on a few weekends at the cabin. July last year was the latest time.

I haven't worked on since 2017.

12) #29 Grab Life - Hands on Design
I haven't worked on since the Longest Day SAL 2017.

I love how 3 of the Hands on Design set has been randomly picked. I swear they were randomly picked too. 8 numbers were picked that had to be skipped. 3 were WIPs I have worked on this month already. 5 were going to be new starts. How fun. So wonder how many I will actually be able to hit the 2 hours on. Luckily we don't have any plans and I've changed the menu around to be no cooking for me. We are going to binge watch The Mandalorian finally on Disney Plus. Sunday we also have a big WWE Pay Per View to watch. So should have lots of stitching time as long as this bug leaves me alone.

Wave Dancer

Well this weekend didn't give me as much stitching time as I would have liked. But here is my progress on Wave Dancer. I'm working on Band 10 with the dolphin so it's taking longer.

Hubby's weekend was very eventful. We started getting rain Friday. It was just a miserable rain that wasn't going to let up. But he was able to get setup and was dry since we put up a canopy over our tent. We went to bed here at home and Izzy (our dog) woke me up in the middle of the night to tell me it was storming. I looked out the window and could hear the wind and pouring down rain. Mom woke me up Saturday morning and it sounded like we were getting a hurricane outside. The wind was blowing so hard when we opened the front door it took a lot of strength to get it shut. I heard reports of 55 to 62 mph wind gusts with 35 mph steady wind. Plus we had a river running through our yard which we have never seen so high. I think they said we got 4 inches of rain in a just a few hours. So Fred finally called and my worries were confirmed our tent had been destroyed. Luckily he was okay and other than our tent everything else was okay. So it could have been worse definitely. He was wet and cold so he packed up and came home. Not exactly how the weekend was supposed to go for him.

We are having friends over this weekend for a July 4th Camping event. Hopefully our yard will dry up a little bit or we might have to camp in boats. Plus I guess we will have to figure what we will be sleeping in. So wish me luck. I have a lot to do and a little time to do it in. Hope everyone has a great week!

Wave Dancer

This is Wave Dancer by Dinky Dyes. I'm pretty sure it's the first band sampler type pattern I've done. It's really fun. It uses silks, Kreinik, and beads. I finished up bands 1 thru 6 yesterday. There is 20 bands total. I figured I would share a picture before getting back to work on it.
