Selkie Update

The sky is still growing haha. Let's see this is 12 Days and 4,690 stitches in. I'm finally ready to take a break from the blues. Just in case you need to know this is my HAED Selkie I'm doing her on 32ct evenweave 1 thread over 1. The picture of her is on the right hand side. She is my HAP SAL.

I've been listening to all my other projects yell and the Blackwork Dragon wins for now. So he will come out for a few days.

So let's update on the house for those who have been following along.

The drain guy came Monday. He worked and he worked. He ended with not good news. The drain is old and isn't working 100%. The only way to fix it is put in a new drain. This is a very expensive and very hard to do project. Consists of ripping out the concrete floor section and putting in new drain and blah blah blah. But we got it to take water for now. We used Korte and my first impression is they were out for money which I've heard now from a lot of people. We also talked to him about our dripping faucet in the kitchen and he said he would put in a whole new faucet starting price $500 not including labor of course!!! He sure wasn't willing to talk about a cheaper option. So that was disheartening. So the end result was leave the sink dripping for now and hope the drain in the garage keeps taking the water for now. So far so good no standing water in the drain.

Last Friday we also found out we needed a new furnace. It needed some many things fixed that it just wasn't going to be worth it. We went with JO Mory for this and I've been nothing but happy with their service. The salesman didn't rip us off he offered us just what we needed. We've been told for several years our furnace and AC was not efficient. So time to bite the bullet and listen. Over the weekend and till Wednesday we were able to stay warm enough. We did have to get a new electric heater cause one stopped working (yep another problem). So Wednesday the two guys showed up and got to work. By 3:30pm we had heat! Nice heat!! Ahh feels good to be warmer than just getting by finally. They had to come back this morning to get the AC finished off which is okay cause we won't be needing it any time soon haha. So let's call this the end to home repairs for at least a little bit okay?

Great news about the furnace! The drain is a bummer. I'm afraid that's what ours needs in the garage too... I hope it keeps draining for a long while!

Sorry to hear some of your home repairs are going to be difficult. Though at least one thing got sorted with the minimum problems. Great progress on Selkie

Oh dear! Us, our American style fridge freezer stopped working and had to buy a new one. Don't get me started on the house.... Glad you're sorted for now :) Lovely progress on the sky :)

Firstly, lovely progress on Selkie, but I'm not surprised you're "blued" out for a while! I'll look forward to seeing Blackwork Dragon come out soon.
As for your home problems, you're not alone! Like Mii, we've just had to buy a new American style fridge-freezer too which of course had to be more expensive than most because of the way the kitchen was built around the fridge-freezer by the previous house owners. Then we had to have a new boiler. Our other one was only 4 years old but was just gave us problem after problem. But I'm so happy that you've now got heating, especially this weather. No excuse to curl up on the sofa and sew to keep warm now!!!! :)

Check with your local Lowes about replacing the faucet. They have a crew of specialists (at least ours does). Hubby has done all of our replacements so far. The stuff should not cost you $500 either. we replaced our kitchen faucet a few years ago and cost depends on what style you pick out.
I understand about the furnace - only our was the AC in the middle of July a few years ago. we are happy with our furnace folks too.
Hang in there. Remember that things come in threes and it sound like you have had your three for now.

Question - are you on a septic system? city water/sewage? It makes a difference on the product you can use to help clean out drains.

That's a lot of progress!! Repairs are boring stuff, I just keep on putting those off until it's urgent. Hope you get things done the way you want.

The company we used for our new furnace was Summers and they have a branch in or near Ft. Wayne. They also do plumbing! We were very happy with them and their service. I would consider getting a second opinion on the plumbing if I were you. :-)

Lovely stitching!

Yeah me too. So far so good.

Thank you! Yeah she will have to wait until I'm ready for more blue haha. I guess it comes with owning a house. Nothing we can do about it really. We have to have those things. Oh I can easily make up another excuse haha.

Thank you.

We have heard about that with Lowes. We will do that. Thanks. Hope so.

Septic and a well. I will remember to look into that.

Linda I don't know why I don't get your emails and yet I get everyone elses. Thank you for the comments though.

There is NO WAY you should pay $500 to replace a kitchen faucet! It is a minimal job, and faucets aren't that expensive at the big box stores, as stated above! My husband says it could just be as simple as tightening something. Have hubby check on that... Selkie is over one on 32? Congrats!

o my, I think that drain guy was sketchy, as other have said, a kitchen faucet in no way costs $500 unless you're getting an exotic one that sings and splashes rainbows upon all your dishes. It's easy enough to do yourself (I had to teach myself how to do the bathroom after it developed a leak)! You may even just need a washer and you can buy a pack of them for like $5.

32, one over one! I just went blind at the thought of that. :D
