Monday Update

Hey everyone. Time for a Monday update. I'll link to the Stitchery Link Party too. Make sure to pop over and see what everyone has been working on. She also has a too cute cat embroidery freebie this week. Friday I got to working on the April Whimsy from the Year of Whimsy leaflet. Here it is after 2 days of work...
I didn't get to work on him Saturday though. My framed pieces were ready and we went to pick them up. Here they are...

I also got the last two seasons from Cricket Collection ready...
Then when it's time they just pop into this frame on my wall...
Above the seasonal one is You are my Sunshine. I did that one for Jeremiah in 2009. I used to sing that song to him all the time. I figured I might as well share it too. I got it framed a long time ago. I love how the framed pieces turned out. The Dog Wisdom piece is just PERFECT. I'm very lucky to have such a wonderful framing shop nearby. I took the pieces in all wrinkled and now they are perfectly framed.

After picking up the frames we went phone shopping. We've been paying too much for nothing for way too long. We still had dumb phones. We were paying more than most our friends with a data package even. Of course we found out our plan didn't even exist any more. But they aren't going to tell you hey you could save a lot of money if you stop what you're doing. So for only $10 more a month we have smart phones with 16 gigs a month data!! We really lucked out. We did some research before hand and ended up picking Samsung Galaxy Core Prime phones. We already have tablets so didn't need to replace what we do on those. So it's a fantastic cheap starter smart phone. As with anything new it took us forever to get it all setup and figured out so Saturday was a waste. We did rent a movie (The Visit - a fantastic scary movie!) and enjoyed that together though. I can't get over we actually have smart phones now! About time haha.

Your April whimsy is adorable. And your framed pieceS look fantastic! I agree about how perfect the framing is for the dog rules one!

Oh boy, smart phones are a blessing and a curse! 😅 On one hand it's great having a tiny computer with me all the time. On the other hand, if I suddenly decide I neeeeeed that Mirabilia Feather Fairy pattern, my phone is right there in my purse whispering "you know, you could use me to order that right now!" 😉

Katie,
Your April whimsy is too cute! I love all your framed pieces. I so wish we had one here. Welcome to the smart phone age! We want to change our phone plans as we are paying way to much to line someone's pocket. Have a lovely week stitching!

All of your pieces are lovely, but I particularly like the blackwork dragon and Dog Wisdom. We don't have a smartphone, and quite a few of our friends don't, either. Probably because we're old curmudgeons.

Your work is beautiful. I particularly like your Autumn stitchery, the horse head, and the Easter Bunny is so cute!

You have some beautiful framed pieces and don't feel bad it took a friend of mine laughing at my flip phone to finally get a smart phone(iPhone)and now I love it along with my iPad.

Beautiful results with your framing. April is another cute one. It sounds like you did really well with your new phones.

So which provider did you end up with? we've been checking things out as well and decided the Samsung is the way for us (that's what our tablets are) but the carriers seem to change their plans every week.

Oh my, Katie, the framed pieces are all so great. You definitely have a great framing shop where you live. Those Cricket Collection seasonal pieces are awesome.
Lucky you that you are now owners of smartphones. Have fun with them.

Sounds like a great weekend: stitching, new framed finishes (all absolutely gorgeous, by the way!) and new toys to play with!!! :D What more do you want?

My #1 priority is to be able to make a phone call so we went with Verizon. Yes it's more expensive but I've been around so many people with Sprint, TMobile, and others that can't make a phone call.

What great new framed pieces, Katie--really love the way you'll be displaying those seasons, popping them in and out of the same frame. Lovely little bunny WIP, too :)

I just entered the smartphone world myself in January--it is very hand, but I still use my iPad far more...

I always have so much I want to comment on when I read your blog posts. I love your stitching - you do so many different types. I have in my todo pile "My Sunshine" and also the Autumn Cricket Collection - I love the idea of switching each season out. I am going to look for the other three seasons. Thanks for sharing - the fireman's hat is great too. See I could just go on and on...

Your work is gorgeous! I agree that you have a great framing shop, but you make it easy for them to look good when you have such beautiful pieces to frame!

omg I love your seasonal stitchings to swap in and out! I swear that is my favorite thing to do around the house LOL. And you have a great framer. I'm happy with the job mine does but she is expensive for me.

Welcome to the smart phone world. I seriously don't know how I survived before getting one. I loved the old Incredibles but since getting a Galaxy S4, I don't think I can ever go to anything else haha. Even the new Galaxys don't appeal to me as much as this version! I was hugely disappointed in Verizon and will never use them again, even though they provide the best phone signal here.

What great framed pieces!! So exciting! And your rabbit Whimsy piece is cute, cute, cute! Now I am singing You Are My Sunshine in my head! Ha! Welcome to the world of smartphones!

I love your framed pieces - your framer did a great job! A good framer is really worth their weight in gold to a stitcher.
I love the Sunshine piece you stitched for Jeremiah. What a lovely stitch and the perfect sentiment.

Beautiful job on all your pieces :). Enjoy your phones :)

Wow! So many beautiful pieces. Congratulations! Congrats on the smart phone, too! Our jump in price is still too much for me to take that step, so my boys and I still have dumb phones. ;)
