January WIPocalypse

It's the first check in for WIPocalypse today. So what is WIPocalypse. It's basically a fun reason to blog about something we all love cross stitching. You pick out a list of things you would like to work on this year. Each full moon you post an update. This helps you look back and see what you've accomplished since the last check in. I have a tab at the top for my goals. Actually my WIPocalypse and my Turtle Trot list would be the same. When I finish something on my list I'll replace it with something new.

This year Measi has also gave us some suggestions on what we could talk about each check in. For today she said this...Introduce yourself, your projects, and any goals you have for the year!

So let's see. I'm Katie. I'm 34 and a stay at home mom. I have a son named Jeremiah who is 15. He is my life. He was born 2 months premature and has cerebral palsy. It affects his legs and makes it so he can't walk without assistance. He uses a wheelchair for long distances. He can walk by holding my one hand into restaurants and those types of things. He attended public school until the 3rd grade and we realized it just wasn't working for him. So I started home schooling him and we have never doubted it one second. I'm also lucky enough to be happily married to Fred. He's my soul mate and I'm so thankful to have him in my life. We bought a house with my mom Jodie. No reason to have two yards to mow and two cable bills. We also have a friend that lives with us Betty. I love life! We travel a lot. I'm so lucky and I appreciate everything I have. That's a quick look at me.

My projects are scattered and random. I love bright colors. I love fun pieces. I love fantasy so HAED is a favorite. I tend to work on whatever makes me happy at the moment. Last year I realized I loved Stoney Creek and have added several to my to do basket. I do a lot of nautical things for my mom. She LOVES the ocean and anything to do with it.

My goals....enjoy my stitching and do whatever makes me happy. So my list changes and I add stuff and take away stuff. Besides stitching is my hobby. I want to enjoy it. I used to model stitch and realized it made it feel like a job. So I quit. I love taking a blank piece of fabric and creating a design on it. I'll work on whatever screams STITCH ME!

So I'll go through my list and show where I am at this point. These are the ones I've worked on since the start of the year.
99 by Ink Circles
 Dog Wisdom by Bucilla
Grow Together by Heaven and Earth Designs (HAED)
Hold on to Hope by Heaven and Earth Designs (HAED)
update pic coming tomorrow

Snow Drifters by Stoney Creek (I want to do 2 Designs)
Winter by The Cricket Collection
If you joined in the WIPocalypse I hope you got a lot done. The next check in is Feb 14th. So I look forward to seeing how these projects change.

You are stitching on some wonderful projects. Question, when you are done with these where will they go? I am always curious about what people do with the designs they stitch. Enjoy your stitching journey!!! See you in February.

Sylvia I can't respond to you cause your blogger is setup private.

Thank you very much. Do you mean the finished piece or the chart? Sometimes I trade the charts. The finished pieces sometimes get framed and hang on the wall. Others get made into pillows and display other ways. Hope I answered your question.

Like Rachel said - I think anyone who will try her hand at stitching a HAED design get a high five from me. Lovely start to your wipocalypse list.

I'm looking forward to seeing your projects grow this year, and I'm with you on the idea that a hobby should be fun - there are enough things in life we just have to slog through!

It's great to know more about you, Katie. We have a lot of the same tastes in charts. You sound like a great mom!
