Today we started school again. We are doing 11th grade this year!!! I can't believe we've been doing this since 3rd grade. There has never been a second I have doubted our decision. Of course there have been at least a million times I've been extremely thankful for doing it this way. Yes Jeremiahs is "behind" but he's doing fantastic in what I believe is important. Instead of algebra we do money for example today he looked at a price list and figured up how much the bill would be to buy certain items like 4 rolls of paper towel and 2 packages of toilet paper. Real life math.
I have stitched a few days too. I worked on Selkie. My HAED blob is growing haha. I think I have a head of a seal even. I will post an update tomorrow for my sad sad turtle trot update. I think September is going to blur by so fast. We have a lot going on. Then we leave October 1st for the last vacation of the year. I'm going to attend the PALs Retreat in Myrtle Beach. So we will extend the trip and stop by Outer Banks and a few other places on the way. Of course it feels like we just got home (we did pretty much haha) but we are already looking forward to it. We have mapped out several new aquariums, museums, and a few forts for learning opportunities too. Poor kid has to learn even on vacation.

I like real life maths - far more useful than algebra! I'm sure you are doing a great job teaching Jeremiah.
Glad to hear you are still enjoying Selkie!
Lol poor guy I'm sure he hates every minute! ;) As much as I love algebra teaching real life math is so much more important. I don't think I've used algebra once since school
Your poor son - he does have to suffer so! LOL Sounds like good solid, useful teaching to me.
Great job on teaching Jeremiah how to budget, lol. Sounds like another wonderful trip brewing:)
Back to school for you too! :D
Math was my worse subject!!!
Enjoy a month of "rest" before going away again x
Back to school includes field trips, so that's fun for all of you! And great idea to teach real-life math vs. calculus. :)
Welcome to the new school year! In the UK we have an exam called Functional Maths which is all real life maths. There are lots of questions about tiling bathrooms and paving gardens!
I do laugh at people who say they don't use algebra, don't they ever use spreadsheets? Maybe not.
Aha! Should we try again this year?
Real life maths sounds like fun, it was one of my better subjects as school ... many years ago!
