Some Finishes!!!

Guess what I did yesterday? I actually broke my sewing machine out of hiding and used it!! I know I can hear the gasps from everyone who knows me haha. I had decided that decorative pillow finish would look nice for my PALs Retreat Exchange pieces. That meant I had to get over it and sew again. It's been more than 10 years easy since I've used the sewing machine.

So I needed to practice. I have a drawer full of finishes I want to do something to. So I found this cute Thanksgiving piece I had done in 2013 (from Stoney Creek Magazine Summer 2011 page 40). I made it into a pillow finish...
The fabric behind it is what I put on the back. I just LOVE how it turned out. Then I did my 2 exchange pieces.

Yeah they aren't perfect but I love the way they turned out. I will definitely be making more pillows soon. Also during the craziness of getting ready for vacation I've been working on the Sept Whimsy. Here is where I am right now...
Getting close.

Your pillows look really good, you still got the skill after all those years! (I'm just starting to learn how to use mine). Great progress on your cute WIP:)

Love the little pillows - you got skills lady! I have a sewing machine I have no idea how to use, and I keep promising myself I will learn. Love the latest whimsy and can't wait to see it finished.

Wow! Looks like you had fun playing with your sewing machine :) It is quite a sweet feeling when you can admire your lovely finishes.
My favourite has to be the Halloween one! Love the button spiders and the choice of fabric for the backing!
Great progress on your Sep stitching too.

Good for you, Katie!! They are so cute--love that spider one so much... It's fun to pull out different fabrics to see which one works best, isn't it?

I also have such a drawer, lol. But usually I don't feel like doing the finishing, I always prefer to stitch. You were doing great pulling out these stitched pieces and finish them.
