#24HOCS February Challenges Recap

#24HoursOfCrossStitch has been the source of my major motivation. Jen puts out monthly challenges and for whatever reason I just fell in love with them. I love setting up monthly goals and doing my best to stick to them. If I don't I don't feel stressed I just enjoy the progress I have made. Love it! The group is welcoming and very kind. Again no stress. Just motivation and lots and lots of it.

I just posted the photos for my WIPocalypse update so this post will mostly be a lot of information if you are interested. Let's see how my February challenges went.

1st Challenge is to stitch a total of 24 hours throughout the month. I thought I was lazy in January when I got a total of 90 hours and 13 minutes. I beat that this month with 92 hours and 13 minutes. Funny how I stuck with the 13 minutes. I did miss one day in January so maybe that was the extra 2 hours worth of stitching I missed haha. I stitched EVERY day in February!

2nd Challenge is my favorite challenge the acrostic. February's acrostic was LEAPYEAR20.

3rd Challenge is a fun one. Jen gives us a list of weird holidays for each day of the month. We are to try to plug our stitching into the holiday somehow. This challenge encourages us to use our creativity and it's so much fun to see how people connect their pieces. I picked 12 that I think work quite well...

1st -- Spunky Old Broads Day -- Homely Houseplants -- I think older ladies would enjoy keeping plants. Now after stitching them I even want one haha.

3rd -- Feed the Birds Day -- Winter Time -- This piece has cardinals on it.

5th -- Western Monarch Day -- Homely Houseplants -- Butterflies love flowers and plants.

8th -- Laugh and Get Rich Day -- Boba Fett -- Boba Fett is a bounty hunter in Star Wars. He likes to sit back and get rich by hunting bounties. He laughs at the challenge. He thinks he can do anything.

13th -- Get a Different Name Day -- Wish Upon a Starfish -- Starfish are now known as Sea Stars because they aren't really fish and the old name was misleading.

16th -- Do a Grouch a Favor Day -- 99 Bottles -- If you give a grouch 2 bottles of beer it will probably cheer him right up.

17th -- Random Acts of Kindness Day -- Beer Dragon -- This piece is for my hubby.

20th -- Love your Pet Day -- Camping Out -- Izzy (our dog) loves going to our campground. She can run around off leash and smell all the smells she wants.

24th -- World Bartender Day -- 99 Bottles -- Bartenders serve a lot more than 99 bottles of beer in their careers I bet.

26th -- Tell a Fairy Tale Day -- February Fairy -- Fairies are in a lot of fairy tales.

27th -- No Brainer Day -- Rules for Life -- Seems like no brainer things to be. Have hope. Be nice to each other.

29th -- Leap Day -- Heart Freebie -- I worked on this piece on the Leap Day. It was the last half hour I needed to complete the piece.

Now off to make a post about my March challenge plans.

Fabulous achievements and connections for February (I think I'll allow that you didn't quite finish the Houseplant SAL!) and how apt to finish the Heart SAL on the last day of February; it was obviously meant to be!
Love your holidays too, from the obvious Boba Fett to the funny Grouch connection on the 16th. And I didn't know that fact about Starfish. You learn something new every day! :)

Great fitting all your projects into the prompts

Your connections were both interesting and educational this month. And 92 hours is a lot of stitching!

That was a fun post! Yes, bartenders sell at least 99 bottles per shift.
We used to run a bar and my husband's job on a Sunday was to empty the bottle skip into the bottle recycling banks. One of my friends drove past one day with her husband. He said "look at that bloke, he's a real alcoholic". My friend replied, "yes, that's Jo's husband"!

I love reading how you make your connections to the stitching goals, challenges and acrostics. You always have such a variety of projects on the go.
