2020 Recap

What a year. I had a near mental break down and ended up taking a lot of the year off. I also dropped the ball on updating my finishes page. So I have it all updated finally if you would like to take a look. I ended up with 19 finishes this year. I made up a spread sheet of all my days stitched on what projects. That was fun to do. Here's some info from it...

Non Stitching Days 163

Stitched Most on Lili of the Valley Fairies with 51 Days Spent

Halloween Minis I spent all of October on so 31 Total

Heart Freebie was my February Challenge piece so ended up in 3rd place with 29 Days

Beer Dragon seen 20 Days of Progress

If my math was right I stitched a total of 453 hours and 6 minutes.

I went through my Tubs and redid my tab above with Goals and SALs. I removed my finishes and a few pieces that were just moved to my stash instead of WIP status. I ended up with 65. So I added 10 more to the list to make it an even 75 again.

Marked off because of Finishing... A Little Beach, Merry Noel, Pizza Slice, Thanksgiving Sekas Heart. Marked off and just added to Back Up Stash... Cut Thru Caravan, Fishing Vest, Hedgehog, Little Snap Dragon, Sew Dinky Tent, Snow Block Party.

Added to make it an even 75 again... Bloody Mary Dragon, Dark Beer Dragon, Moonshine Dragon, Snowman Heart Sekas, Fall Heart Sekas, Nautical Heart Sekas, Year of Celebrations, Ask Me About my Grandkids, Peppermint Sleds. Then I was left with one more.... I couldn't narrow down my choice. So I added the most honest answer I could....Zillion other things. We all know I will start something if I want to. So why limit myself haha. Trust me going through my piles make me very excited to work on so so many things.

I know the biggest thing. I need to do better. Better at handling stress. Better at being in the now and not let it get to me. It's not worth it. I will be participating in the fun blog things. WIPocalypse, IHSW, FFG, Smalls SAL, and the blog hops that pop up. I have picked out a year long monthly SAL. I really enjoy doing them. The rest is just to stitch. To be happy. To keep up my new healthy lifestyle which realistically steals time away from stitching and that's okay. One thing I need to do is keep a smaller piece nearby so I can do a quick 30 minutes before bed. I noticed last night I didn't stitch because I have my Bloody Mary loaded and I didn't want to just add a few stitches. So I need to keep some smaller pieces in my side table too.

Thanks to each of you for being my friends. For all the comments. For sharing in my happiness and understanding my craziness. Please remember to take care of yourself. I swear it's harder than taking care of everyone else. But if you don't take care of yourself you will crash. It's only a matter of time. No matter how happy you try to be. If you need to talk to someone I'm an email away. If you need to call I'll give you my number. Just take care of yourself whatever you need.

I promise to myself I will try as hard as I can. I need to be my own friend for once. I'm doing great and I will keep it up. I will ask for help when I need to. Somewhere in there I will enjoy my joy of cross stitching and try to remember to update my blog better haha.

2020 has certainly been a year to both remember and forget, and not necessarily for the right reasons. But it seems like you've pulled through, picked yourself up, dusted yourself off and are ready to steam into 2021.
I hope you enjoyed going through your tubs and stash and that it has helped rekindle that enthusiasm for cross stitching that somewhat disappeared this year (well, it must have considering you've added a 'zillion' things to the bottom of your goals list!)
Here's to a happy, healthier and more stable 2021. :)

Katie - your new to-do is bigger than mine and that's fine with me. I have "packed" a stitching bag full of items I want to work on this year. Many are large but there are a few Mill Hills that I really like, and a very few are ornaments. So charts went in along with some fabric (no threads unless in a kit or my "kit") plus a couple of stitching accessories so I don't forget them. About half may be WIPs and if so, the stretcher bars and scroll frames didn't physically go into the bag. My new project for the start of the year is ready. Even the back-up project is ready. Hopefully 2021 wil be better.

Katie, you are amazing! I'm so glad I found you in this blogging world. Wishing you a fantastic 2021. Taking the time for yourself is hard. I'm making it a priority, too. Happy New Year! I look forward to following your progress. :)

I am glad that you made it through this year and will be joining us for all sorts of fun activities next year! I try to keep my SALs and Hops as open as possible to not put pressure on people. Shoe horns always welcome on my blog!
Looking forward to seeing what makes it onto your stitching list this year.

Katie I am so glad you made it safely and happily thru 2020 and that is because you recognized what YOU needed and made sure you got it. As far as your healthier lifestyle goes you should be extra proud of yourself and I think all of us are super proud of your achievements. Despite all that you still managed to get in lots of stitching and finished some great pieces. I can't wait to see what 2021 brings you in all aspects of life.
