DUCJC Day 20

This project is one I've been looking forward to. This is from Noteworthy Needle. She was setup at PALs too and I really enjoyed getting to know her. She designed the Beach Ball pin cushion I started on Day 6. Here is a picture of what this one will look like...
When you are finished you can sit your cell phone in the chair to give it a place to rest. Or if you have decorations like we do here in our house with a lot of ocean type stuff it will fit right in. Here is where I got today...
As you can see I just couldn't do the white. I'm using a fun Weeks Dye Works thread called Confetti. I've had a lot of fun with this one cause as you can see there are a few different specialty stitches. The anchors are done normal cross stitch. The squiggly line in the middle is a woven running stitch. The seaweed looking stitch is called a feather stitch I really LOVE it! The shells on the left are just that shell stitch. I need to do the other side shells and then do a nun stitch border to finish it off. I can't decide if I will do the nun stitch in the confetti or just use white since it's the edge of the piece. What do you think?

Tomorrow is another Ursula Michael piece.

The variegated thread is beautiful. It is a very ocean-y design. I think the white would be nice on the edge as a contrast to the colourful middle.

Looks great Katie and I love the floss.

This looks FANTASTIC! The thread is absolutely gorgeous and you achieved so much for the day. For the border I would use either the confetti or pick out one of the colours (turquoise?). I think white would look wrong against the variegated thread (sorry Rebekah!).
Definitely looking forward to another UM tomorrow. Perhaps a family- or vacation-themed one this time?

What a lovely design. If it were me I would carry on using the same colours because the stitiching already done looks so pretty.

This looks awesome I love the confetti color! Lol it's a confetti people like ;) I wouldn't do the border in white but I would use a solid color...maybe an ocean blue?

Looks very pretty!! And it makes stitching interesting with different stitches.

Now this is a very interesting piece with all its specialty stitches. And the finishing as a deck chair, how cool. And you are not far from finishing it. I wouldn't use white for the border but go with Heather's idea - a solid colour.

That's a fab little stitch. That thread is amazing (rushes off to scour Internet for it). I'm not sure white would be right either but a solid colour in the thread.

Love it! What a brilliant way to display stitching! I love the thread you chose and I would either use that or a solid coordinating colour to edge the chair.

WOW!!! I LOVE THIS!!
This is so sweet and I love your choice of colours... doesn't matter which one you decide on , it will look awesome. Did it come with the wooden frame to make it up?? So cool!

You got a lot done on this one! White would not go, so a solid seems to be the way to go... So cute!

Stunning! That thread is just lovely!

Hello Katie,
I love your confetti thread choice. I think you should just stick with the confetti thread for the border. Your piece will be stunning. I can't wait to see what you decide to do.

Love this one!! Great thread choice and I agree with Rachel and others, choose a bright colour that matches or stick with the Confetti for the nun stitch. White would get washed out I think.

What a unique little project! Love the thread that you chose! Did the kit come with the little wooden chair frame?

Traditionally the Nun stitch is done to match the fabric. It is considered a hem stitch (finishing), not so much a decorative stitch. Though it is currently used in many ways. If you really want color, then I wold suggest you do the Nun stitch to match, then thread a strand of a color through the open edges. (see the finished photo).

What a terrific pattern! Love the thread you're using and I would stick with colour for the border. I really don't think would quite look like it belonged.

Love what you've done with it! The pattern looks great, can't wait to see it finished, I hope you don't spoil your cellphone much, lol. It will really look neat with your other ocean stuff:)

Wow, this looks fantastic! How about using one of the confetti colours for the border? Maybe the blue?

This is gorgeous and such a different way of utilising your stitching!
Love the thread but I think a plain colour would be better for the edging.
