Monday Update

Hey everyone. Time for a Monday update. I'll link to the Stitchery Link Party too. Make sure to pop over and see what everyone has been working on. She also has a too cute cat embroidery freebie this week. Friday I got to working on the April Whimsy from the Year of Whimsy leaflet. Here it is after 2 days of work...
I didn't get to work on him Saturday though. My framed pieces were ready and we went to pick them up. Here they are...

I also got the last two seasons from Cricket Collection ready...
Then when it's time they just pop into this frame on my wall...
Above the seasonal one is You are my Sunshine. I did that one for Jeremiah in 2009. I used to sing that song to him all the time. I figured I might as well share it too. I got it framed a long time ago. I love how the framed pieces turned out. The Dog Wisdom piece is just PERFECT. I'm very lucky to have such a wonderful framing shop nearby. I took the pieces in all wrinkled and now they are perfectly framed.

After picking up the frames we went phone shopping. We've been paying too much for nothing for way too long. We still had dumb phones. We were paying more than most our friends with a data package even. Of course we found out our plan didn't even exist any more. But they aren't going to tell you hey you could save a lot of money if you stop what you're doing. So for only $10 more a month we have smart phones with 16 gigs a month data!! We really lucked out. We did some research before hand and ended up picking Samsung Galaxy Core Prime phones. We already have tablets so didn't need to replace what we do on those. So it's a fantastic cheap starter smart phone. As with anything new it took us forever to get it all setup and figured out so Saturday was a waste. We did rent a movie (The Visit - a fantastic scary movie!) and enjoyed that together though. I can't get over we actually have smart phones now! About time haha.

Dog Wisdom Finish

Dog Wisdom Kit by Bucilla
Started Jan 1, 2014
Finished Feb 27, 2015
Took 16 Days of Work
Fred (hubby) got me this kit for Christmas 2014.

I'm happy dancing. I just love this piece. It's so true. I think dogs can sure teach us some important lessons. I've always had dogs in my life. I can't imagine life without them. No other thing in the world will love you so much no matter what.

So my plan right now for March is to spend a week on each new HAED. I've been trying to decide which one but I love them all. So I'll probably have Jeremiah pick for me. It's always nice to be able to blame him haha. The last weekend in March I'm attending a local stitching retreat too. April will start getting busier. So I hope to find lots of time until then. I also want to squeeze in my Mill Hill kit finish for the month but looks like there will be time after the first three weeks are over. Sounds like a plan at least right?

Dog Wisdom Update

I'm getting close to another finish. This is Dog Wisdom by Bucilla. Fred got it for me last year for Christmas. I've worked on it here and there. I realized I'm close to a finish so I think I'll stick with it now until it's done. I started it on Jan 1st 2014. I haven't calculated up how many days I've been working on it just yet. I will when I report on the finish.

I need to pull threads to kit up a HAED. Here's hoping I have them all. That's always nice isn't it? Of course my luck there are always those few I don't have. I'm going to start 3 new ones for my own March Madness haha. I'll be back to show what I plan to start. I figured I would just tease you for now.

Relaxing Weekend

This weekend was nice and relaxing. Well sort of. Saturday morning we tackled some weeds. We made quick work on it though and was ready to relax the rest of the day. I pulled out my Dog Wisdom kit. I haven't worked on it since April so it was time to get some daylight. I got a lot done! I was up by the bone and the Learn New Tricks part. I love it when the needles just seem to take off and fly.

Saturday in the middle of the night I went to roll over and move my leg and my leg decided to get a major cramp. So I woke from my peaceful dreams screaming bloody murder. My poor dog came running to see what was wrong and my hubby said What What?! I was able to get out My leg My leg. He grabbed it and straightened it out and oh it hurt but I needed it. The knot will be there for a few days. I keep joking about guessing I need permission to move my legs next time. Then this afternoon I was walking back from the bathroom and ran the same leg into Jeremiah's reading table. OUCH! It turned pretty colors right away and just keeps getting prettier as the day goes by. I swear I'm doomed. I told hubby I just need a padded room but I think I would find a way to hurt myself in there.

Oh well at least I got a lot of stitching done haha. We also got a lot of TV watched. Is anyone watching the new series called The Strain on FX? Oh I just love it. There are just way too many good shows on nowadays.

Update

I heard we ended up with 13 inches of snow. Wow! Here is my favorite picture my hubby grabbed...
Gorgeous. This was as it was happening. It hung in the trees and just piled up everywhere. Then we got 30 mph winds. We've heard a lot of reports of power going out but so far we've kept ours. Please keep it that way. We've broke all kinds of records for our temps too. Right now it's -9 actual temp and feels like -25. It's not getting any warmer today either. Fred got yesterday off work but today he made it in. He said the roads were horrible still.

Saturday Fred took me out for a few quick stops. Hobby Lobby was first on the list. I had a pile of threads I needed to buy to finish kitting up my new projects. We also went to Walmart. Oh My Goodness it was worse than the day after Thanksgiving. Since it was the day before the storm. There were no carts. People were being rude and breaking things. I had to go through 4 dozen eggs to find one not all broken. There was only 7 jugs of milk left. I couldn't believe it. Of course there was a few things we needed. I was glad when we got home.

Here is where I made it with Dog Wisdom...
Not bad with 3 days of work on it. After getting my new threads I couldn't wait to start another project...
This one is called Have a Ball from Stoney Creek Snow Drifters leaflet. I joked about how cute my but was that I stitched haha. Yes I'm immature haha. This is after 3 days work.

My mom and me now have Jeremiah's wonderful cold and OUCH I hurt. I took NyQuil last night. Of course that meant a night full of crazy dreams but I did sleep great. Mine can't decide what it's going to do yet. Be a head cold or go into my throat. Mom's is in her throat she thinks. Fun Fun.

Oh I forgot to tell about we watched The Conjuring. I LOVE scary movies and it was fantastic. It's a exorcist type of movie. Spooky!!! Then we watched a whole bunch of Teen Wolf (from MTV) trying to get caught up. It started again last night. It's getting really good too. Well I think I finally updated everything I wanted to update about. So I'm off. Gotta see what today brings.

Dog Wisdom WIP

I worked on Dog Wisdom again yesterday. So here is my progress after 2 days.

I called Jeremiah's doctor yesterday. Poor guy said every time he coughed it felt like his ribs were breaking. I love his doctor and her nurse cause they know Jeremiah so well. I know there is A LOT going around. Even the answering service was changed cause of how bad it is. When I got through to the nurse she asked what the patient's name was and when I said Jeremiah she said Oh No Not Jeremiah. He's just so little and he gets knocked down so hard by typically cold's. We did end up with 7 inches of snow and we couldn't have got there if we wanted to cause our driveway was horrible. Anyway the nurse said she didn't want us to have to come out. So she talked with the doc and called in a prescription. (Thank you Doc!) Betty picked it up on the way home from work. She got stuck 3 times in the driveway and we got her pushed into Fred's spot where he parks. When Fred got home after eating dinner he went out and attacked the snow with the snow blower.

Anyway the med really seems to help Jeremiah a lot. He was able to rest yesterday and it really slowed down his coughing a lot! So hopefully he's on the road to recovery. I had recorded the Rose Bowl Parade (my favorite parade all year long!!) and we watched it together yesterday.

They are predicating even more snow this Sunday. Still is the early prediction stages but looks like a bad one. Maybe 7 more inches. It's -8 actual temp right now so this 7 inches isn't going anywhere. We are supposed to have the lowest temps in 20 years. We don't normally see negatives temps here. We have a full 7 day forecast of them. It's crazy! One day they are saying -17 actual temp!! Well I'm off to see what today brings. Hopefully cuddling under the blanket and stitching.

TUSAL?

So today is not only the first day of 2014 but it's also a new moon. This means it's TUSAL time. What is TUSAL? Anyone playing along keeps their left over threads sometimes called orts or snippits. I put mine into this too cute ceramic jar a friend made by my stitching table...
When the new moon comes around we post a picture to share with everyone participating. TUSAL stands for Totally Useless Stitch ALong. Long story shortest it's a fun reason to blog about something I already do haha. For the end of 2013 I put all my orts into a see through ornament I found. Here is my pile of orts since the last new moon to add to my ornament...
I don't quite understand how all those threads squeeze into that ornament but they did. Now I'll start with a fresh empty ornament for 2014...
I got this too cute ornament holder this year for Christmas too. Works perfect. Now to work on filling it up! We'll see how I'm doing next new moon. I started a new project today in honor of the start to a new year. I picked Dog Wisdom. Here is my start...
We spent today watching movies. Poor Jeremiah has a head cold and has been coughing all day. He went to bed last night at 10pm and missed the ball coming down for the New Year. I recorded it and we celebrated today. We watched Grown Ups 1 and 2. What great comedies. Then we watched The Heat. Another wonderful comedy. Now we are catching up on Shield episodes we have on our DVR. We are getting a beautiful snow outside. They keep saying 4 to 7 inches. Last I saw outside it was gorgeous. Can't wait till morning. I love snow. All my friends pick on me cause I love it so much. They all hate it. They have to drive to work. Since I'm a stay at home mother plus I never really drive anywhere (I hate driving!) I don't have to worry about it. So I get cussed a lot haha. I'll put up with it to look outside and see that beautiful white covering on the ground.
