Jan 8th Monday Update

Hello readers. Welcome to 2024 and a Monday update. Let's see what I've been working on this last week.

Monday was the 1st and I had a New Year New Start...

Halloween Potions by Les Petites Croix de Lucie (This is going to get annoying to type haha) I'm using 32ct Light Mint Lugana.

Tuesday I worked on it as well. Ended the two days with 514 which met my monthly goal on this piece...

The designer has a lot of color changes in a small area and definitely a lot of backstitching but I love the way it looks after it's stitched. So I'll just backstitch as I go along. I started at the bottom left in case you couldn't tell.

Wednesday I worked on Winter Line Up by Trilogy. I'm doing 100 stitches a week for January to hit my goal of 400. I added my 100...

After that was done I pulled out my pick for my Mixed up Monthly. Jeremiah picked this one for January. He loves our Irish heritage. I worked on it Wednesday, Thursday, Friday, and Saturday was able to finish it up...

(1) January 6th
Wee Bit Irish
from Erin Elizabeth Designs
Stitched on 32ct Vintage Country Mocha
Using DMC Threads
Started Jan 3rd. Took 4 Days.
1,443 Stitches

Wohoo my first finish for 2024!! It was a fun fast stitch really. I was sad to finish it though. It was definitely one I was excited to stitch up. Sunday I was pouting about what to stitch now and Jeremiah had to pick a number for me haha.

So I worked on Simple Treasures for my monthly goal of 100 stitches...

I ended up with 187 before it was time for bed.

My step mom is still in the hospital. Been a month now. My dad took me up two times last week. We found out she had a cluster of a dozen strokes. So that explained why she hadn't woke up or communicated for a week and a half. Luckily she woke up and was finally communicating. It seems to have affected her sight but my Uncle had a stroke bother his vision and he has regained his sight now. So the neurologist said sometimes the brain can rewire itself to be able to work around the damage. The brain is an amazing thing that's for sure. Now they are started rehab so she can get her strength back. They are also doing a bone marrow test and hopefully that shows her numbers have drastically improved. That will be the next hurdle to cross. We went up yesterday Fred, Jeremiah, and me and it was adorable how happy she was to see Jeremiah. So we are sure happy to have her awake and talking at least now.

Well I'm off to read blogs and then stitch. We have several rounds of snow coming this week and brutal cold end of the week. So perfect stitching weather. Love yourself. Enjoy stitching all the things. I sure will. See ya next Monday for another update.

Kitting Day

Today was a playing with stash kind of day. I notice I have to be in the perfect mood. I would rather be stitching. Took me from 10am till 3pm to get it all done. I had to sort floss to put away. Put it away in my floss main containers. Then start pulling projects for the 17 projects. One is a Christmas present from last year. Most are from my stash. Instead of a typical monthly set next year I'm doing a 12 months from stash between the holidays each month. LOL What a long name. Between the Holidays Mixed Bag? Hm need to think on the name. 2 of these are on involved in a Semi Sane FB event for December. So they might just be started soon. Let's see what's in the stack. Some have multiple in the project envelopes because they are a "set" plus I ran out of project envelopes haha.

First up the Hinzeit envelope has 4 different patterns in it...

The bottom two I got for Christmas 2019. The top two I bought from a stash sell in April of 2020.

Erica Michaels has 4 in the envelope. So many of these mom got when I attended the PALs retreats. She always bought them so I could save them up for "one day". Finally 2024 will be the day for these 4 at least (yes I have a lot more in my stash safe and sound)...

These are all done on 40ct silk gauze. I just LOVE working on them. I did get the specialty thread because it helps them look so gorgeous.

Tiny Modernist I have 3 of the Fantasy Biscornu's...

I bought them in 2019 while attending my local Hoosier Retreat.

I bought these this year in January after seeing them on Instagram. This will be my seasonal set. The Winter one will be started in December for a Semi Sane Challenge. Then each season I will start the one for that season.

This one I bought in September because I was buying some other things and it fell in the cart haha.

Colorful Eagle was bought by Fred and Jeremiah for Christmas last year. So I knew it needed to be started before too long. I love the patriotic colors. Plus definitely works for the between the holidays times for display. This one is on the list to start for the December challenge.

So excited to start each one. So happy to have this part all done finally! I can finally go stitch haha.

Sept 4th Monday Update

Happy Labor Day. It's been a busy and a HOT weekend. But I am here with an update. Long one today so let's first talk about what stitching I did last week...

Monday I worked on Camping Out Mill Hill for Mill Hill Monday. I got 152 stitches added....

Tuesday and Wednesday I worked on the Summer Gnome. Tuesday I added 632 stitches. Wonderful stitching day. Wednesday 196 stitches. I'm up to Day 9 now...

Thursday we had several friends show up to start the weekend early. My step mom's family takes over the campground for a reunion type gathering. We had less people than normal but still busy busy and lots of fun. A lot of work to get ready but it was a great time. There were like 20 kids running like crazy. They all seemed to have had a blast. This is the perfect place to have so many kids run around. They spent a lot of time in the pond. Since unfortunately 2 of the days were horrible hot. Upper 90 heat index again. So I'm exhausted from sweating. Plus I didn't sleep well. I always know people are up and jump awake to not miss anything haha. But...it was worth it. It was a great time and now it's over. Probably our last big camping bash here. We will have a fun Halloween party but not really much else. Which I'm secretly excited about. More stitching. Lazy time. Haha. We will have some fall cooler temps type things to do around here but still it will be more calm. Plus a few more weekends ahead to finish clearing out the old house. Anyway I'm rambling.

Another thing to share is a really fun thing that happened. I received $100 from a survey company I participate in. So since it was unplanned money I decided to get some stash haul because I mean why not haha...

The new Jim Shore Mill Hill Kits since I found a love for Gnomes lately. I decided I will do them one at a time. I'll have Jeremiah pick which one each time of course. Probably in October. Maybe I'll be lucky enough to get them done for the Winter season. No pressure though.

I got our Zodiac Mill Hill kits after seeing a friend work on one. Nice thing Jeremiah and I are both Taurus so I only have to do 2 for the 3 of us.

Enchanted Pumpkin yet another Mill Hill kit. I've had this one on my wish list for years! So it was about time plus with the other Mill Hills coming it fit right in the cart to.

Last two I got the free chart of the month which was a mummy from Stoney Creek. I also got this Irish chart from 123stitch because it was on sale so again.....why not. Jeremiah loves his Irish heritage so I thought it would be nice to stitch for him. So 11 new patterns added to my stash. I couldn't help it. Free money. I ended up only paying like $6 for all of these with shipping. Perfect. It was a fun stash enhancement that we all need sometimes.

Now I'm joining in a fun game for September called Go Fish in the Semi Sane Facebook group. I will explain more about that in my next post though. This one is already long enough I think haha.

Have a great week. We have a few more days of heat and then it's supposed to cool off again. Hopefully this time for the rest of the year. We keep joking about never turning on our heat because we look forward to being cold finally. Love yourself. Smile. Enjoy your life.
