Monday Update

Another Monday is here. I posted my finish on Wednesday. Thursday we went grocery shopping and we had packing to do so I only got a few stitches into my Spring Bell Pull. Not even worth an update picture. Friday we were off on the road for a mini vacation. We went north 4 hours into Michigan and spent the weekend at Houghton Lake. Our hotel was right on the lake. We have friends that live close by. They decided to host a camping event in their yard and several others showed up. We just decided to camp at a hotel instead of a tent this time haha. I think we had about 20 people hanging out over the weekend. It was a horrible rainy weekend but we had a few canopies to sit under so we sat, told stories, and laughed the weekend away. It was great! It was Jeremiah and Mom's first time to really hang out and get to know these people and now they understand why we like them so much. We all met from geocaching. Normally we only get to see one another once a year but our friendships have grown and that just wasn't enough. Now we are finding excuses to get together more often. Like this fun weekend away.

Sunday we took a detour before coming home to the Michigan Fireman Memorial which was very close to where we were staying. Our friend who happens to be a firefighter took us there several years ago and it's beautiful. Since this was Jeremiah's first time in the area we wanted to take him too. He said it was really hard to be there with a firefighter. Here are a few pictures...

 

 

 

 

 

The center memorial has names of fire fighters that have died while on duty. The back walls are to honor fire fighters who have died off duty. Hard to remember this is only for Michigan when you see the amount of names. Our friend unfortunately knows several names on the wall. These guys and girls sure deserve this beautiful memorial. What a job they have. I couldn't do it. As you can see in the background of the bottom picture it was all steps to get up there. Jeremiah said it was really hard work to get up there but totally worth it. He said "Mom they would walk up steps for me." He was hurting by the time we got back to the truck but he was so proud of himself for making it.

I hope everyone has a great week. We are back down to our cabin this weekend. We can't wait!
