Monday Update - What a Blast!!!!

We got home last night. Jeremiah and I had a 10 night stay at our cabin. We went down Thursday with Mom. One friend showed up Thursday night with her camper. Friday everyone else arrived. We had a family of 4 from 5 hours north (Houghton Lake, MI for those who know the area), our friend Daryl and my godson from Michigan City, and a husband and wife from Detroit, Michigan. Fred was able to take a half day and join us Friday too. The weekend went great. Lots of fun visiting with friends we don't get to see very often sometimes only one time a year. We felt so thankful they would travel so far to visit our little campground. They all loved it and said they would be back soon.

Everyone headed home Sunday except Mom, Jeremiah, Me and Damein. Plus Lily his little dog who I fell in love with over the time. She is a chihuahua/rat terrier mix and boy what a cutie. We had a blast. The boys played their Xbox and PlayStation. Mom and I played Skipbo a fun card game together. Monday we had to run home to do something so Dad and my Stepmom came over and took the boys out to lunch. We were back by early afternoon. We went to Walmart to get some groceries and got some back to school supplies for Damein. He was really happy. Jeremiah and him got some matching PJ pants. How cute. Mom woke up Tuesday and headed home.

My Dad has been having some health scares. They did some blood work on Tue the 13th and told him to go the ER he was going to have a heart attack. They gave him the all clear and let him go home after several hours of tests and waiting. Tue the 20th I got a call they were on the way to work and the doc called my step mom to say hurry get to the ER again he had a blood clot in his lungs. Again they did more tests and said he everything was fine. No issues. Dad said you guys are going to cause me to have a heart attack with all these scares. So he came over to visit us and try to settle down. Wednesday he went back to work and they treated him bad. He works at a factory and they put him on a really difficult machine. He laid down that night in tears because of how much he hurt. Thursday the boss put him on another hard machine and told him they were planning on toughening him up. So needless to say that really pissed my dad off and he went to get paperwork to prove he wasn't supposed to be doing that type of work or even be there at all. The office lady told him go home he didn't need this stress. So he stopped by again to visit and ate dinner with the boys and me. He is now off work till after they do more testing which is supposed to be done this Wednesday so please send him well wishes.

So anyway other than a few bumps our week was amazing. I grew even closer to my godson. He is amazing. The boys had a BLAST together. I had packed stitching thinking I would have tons of time. I only got 1 hour and a few minutes into my piece. We just did so many other things.

Growing up I had always heard about Dungeons and Dragons. I never got to play it though. Damein loves playing it so he brought all the stuff and asked if we could play. I fell in love! He's awesome at being a game master. The stories he came up with were so much fun and we laughed and laughed together. Also come to find out the card game I was playing with my mom was one of his mother's favorite games so we played that together too. We also watched some movies. It was just perfect.

Then there was the wildlife. We got to watch possums within an arms reach haha. We got to watch a cicada hatch.
Here is one completely out and dried off that landed on my dad while we were all watching a movie together...
It was really neat to watch the whole process of him coming out of his shell. The boys loved it. Fred came down after work on Friday. We played D&D together...
It was so much FUN! Great a new addiction haha. Saturday morning we loaded up and took Damein home. We visited with his brother and father for a bit and then kidnapped Daryl (his dad) to go out to eat lunch. The town he lives in has a casino I had never been to. So we all went to it. We had a lot of fun. Fred came out ahead. Jeremiah and I only lost a little bit but boy we had fun doing it. Then we headed back to our cabin. It was a long day but so worth it.

Fred noticed I was really pouting on the way home though. I swear I felt like I left half my heart. We had so much fun bonding over the week it felt like I was leaving an important part of myself behind. Sunday morning it was sad to wake up without him. I texted him and he said he felt the same way. What a week for all of us!

We got home last night after a long day. My family had a birthday party. It was one of my cousins daughters birthday. My family has always been strong and never had any problems. Boy we have a lot of drama going on and it's so sad and frustrating. I just shake my head and sure don't know why it's like this. Picking my own family from my friends sure seems to be the way to go. No drama in the group we have now. We all need to just love each other.

We decided to go back down Wednesday to prepare for the upcoming Labor Day weekend fun. Bev (my step mom) is having a lot of family down for the weekend. Daryl is coming down again too. Damein started college and knew he would have work to do. The beginning of our week together he told me he wouldn't be able to come down for Labor Day. Now he keeps hinting about coming back so we can play D&D again haha.

This will also be the first time it will be just Jeremiah and I. So we are looking forward to it. Fred will be down Friday after work. Maybe I'll have stitching time. If not stitching will wait. Yes I accept my August goals are not going to be completed. But the memories we have made are priceless!!

Sorry no stitching pictures. I will be back tomorrow with my WIPocalypse update too. Just wanted to update those who would like to know about our time away. Can't wipe the smile off my face.

Your absence from Blogland was noted but, given the fun you were having with friends, family and adopted family, I suppose we'll all have to let you off! I expect your stitching for August is not as bad as you think (there are still 5 days left...!) but like you said, stitching is great but memories are priceless. :)

Sounds like you guys had an awesome time! Glad you got to give Damien a bit of a vacation from real life before school started. Oh seeing nature up close sounds like a big plus for spending time at the cabin!!

So sorry about your Dad and his health. Sounds like his boss needs someone to have a talk with him. If something happened to your Dad how would the jerk have felt then?

I'm glad you had such a wonderful time at the cabin - it seems like a great place to be.
I'm hoping your dad gets a clean bill of health soon, and a doctor's note for work to make them stop being awful! x

You are certainly making treasured memories at the cabin, what a blessing!
Sorry to hear about what's going on with you Dad, especially the way that work is treating him, that's terrible.
I'm not really a bug person, but cicadas are cool!
Drama in family stinks, been there and still there! I do love my chosen family though.
I hope you're still smiling!
