Geocaching

Fred's birthday was the 5th. I thought it would be fun to celebrate by geocaching for the day today.

For those who might not know what geocaching is basically it's a high tech treasure hunt game. You use a hand held GPS unit and plug coordinates off a website into it. They are everywhere and get you out and off the couch. We started this hobby in August 2005 and have loved every minute of it.

We haven't been out just the two of us for a long time. Most the time we go with a group of friends. We needed 19 today to hit 700 total finds. So we got to looking at which ones we wanted to do. There is a nice park 20 mins from home. So we loaded up the dogs and headed over. We grabbed a few park and grabs on the way. (Park and Grabs are in parking lots are something so you really just park the vehicle and grab it.) It was 50 degrees today and the sun was shining beautiful. There was a bit too much wind but still it was a wonderful weather day for a park hike. We got to the park and parked the truck and started walking the circle to get the caches. There was 11 in the park. We took our time and the dogs had a blast. (Ended up we walked 3 miles!!! No wonder Izzy is mad at me)

Here is a cute picture...

Looks like I got eaten by a tree haha. Another great part of the day is I actually found a lot of the caches!! For some reason I was just on a roll today. It was so much fun! So we got the 19 we needed and then we headed home. Poor Izzy passed out in the truck on the way home of course.

She is going to sleep well tonite. Our 2nd dog had a nice time too. He's under weight so all the walking didn't bother him at all. What a wonderful day! Now tomorrow I can relax and stitch instead of being so active haha.

Good for you for getting up off the couch and outside! What an inspiration! What exactly is a cache? Do you actually find little boxes with goodies inside? I have no clue!
